Human population facing long wave variability: an ecological approach

نویسنده

چکیده

It is proposed that long wave economic cycles are related to natural variability, and thus we might only be able to properly manage the ecosystem by combining our understanding of the sources and mechanisms of that natural variability to our limited social and economic planning capabilities.

Providing a Comprehensive Branding Pattern for Organic Product with a Sensory Marketing Approach

Today, the world faces a major problem called population growth, one of the consequences of which is food shortages. Therefore, organic farming is considered as one of the most effective approaches to responding to the challenges facing human beings in realizing sustainable development. The purpose of this research is to provide a comprehensive model of branding for sensory marketing based on a...

Investigating long-term ecological variability using the Global Population Dynamics Database.

The Global Population Dynamics Database (GPDD) is an important new source of information for ecologists, resource managers, and environmental scientists interested in the dynamics of natural populations. It comprises more than 4500 time series of population abundance for over 1800 animal species across many taxonomic groups and geographical locations. The GPDD offers great potential for asking ...

A numerical investigation of a reaction-diffusion equation arises from an ecological phenomenon

This paper deals with the numerical solution of a class of reaction diffusion equations arises from ecological phenomena. When two species are introduced into unoccupied habitat, they can spread across the environment as two travelling waves with the wave of the faster reproducer moving ahead of the slower. The mathematical modelling of invasions of species in more complex settings that include ...

Common birds facing global changes: what makes a species at risk?

Climate change, habitat degradation, and direct exploitation are thought to threaten biodiversity. But what makes some species more sensitive to global change than others? Approaches to this question have relied on comparing the fate of contrasting groups of species. However, if some ecological parameter affects the fate of species faced with global change, species response should vary smoothly...

Combined effects of climate, predation, and density dependence on Greater and Lesser Scaup population dynamics.

An understanding of species relationships is critical in the management and conservation of populations facing climate change, yet few studies address how climate alters species interactions and other population drivers. We use a long-term, broad-scale data set of relative abundance to examine the influence of climate, predators, and density dependence on the population dynamics of declining sc...
